An R&D engineer is someone who studies, designs, and develops new products and ideas.

R&D engineers work on behalf of a company to create, test, and study new inventions, products, and processes.

They are often the individuals who come up with ideas on how to improve existing products or create brand new products that can change the way people use technology.

An R&D engineer is usually given a budget or money by the company that they work with to conduct research and develop new ideas.

Their work may be private or public, and they may be asked to keep the work that is done under wraps until they’re ready to share it with the public.

Responsibilities
 

• Design and develop new processes and products
• Research and develop new materials, instruments, and equipment
• Create implementing plans and timelines
• Develop detailed product specifications, and conduct feasibility studies
• Promote collaboration and teamwork
• Provide assistance to other engineers
• Stay current on industry trends

Requirements and skills
 

• Previous Experience is an advantage
• Conscientious and responsible
• A keen eye for detail and a results driven approach
• Outstanding communication skills
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Proficient in MS Office
• BSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering
